WHAT LURAY DOWNTOWN INITIATIVE DOES
Why we do it
We love Luray and we know you do too! Downtown Luray is the heart of our community and it deserves some specialized care. This Virginia Main Street Community is managed by the Luray Downtown Initiative, a nonprofit 501(c)3. We work closely with the Town of Luray and Virginia Main Street Organization to carry out its mission and vision.
“Growing up in Luray, I’ve always thought our little town had SO much potential! I’m a strong advocate for downtown — by owning a business on Main Street, I guess you could say ‘I’m all in’. I serve on the LDI Board because I want to help make it even better than it already is — for our community and also for folks who visit here.”
– Barbie Stombock
“I Love Luray! And I want to see downtown grow and for all to be prosperous! “- Nancy Lee Shifflett
“We work for downtown because, the downtown district reflects our community image, pride, prosperity, and level of investment. Downtown is the historic core of the community and its visual identity and heritage. We work with LDI to help facilitate and increase the quality of life for our citizens and added enjoyment for our visitors.”
