Organization

Builds an effective coalition of public and private sector stakeholders, works as partners with organizations who are interested in downtown’s success. LDI’s carefully selected Board represents a good cross-section of business, attraction, tourism and marketing minds dedicated to progressive promotions and effective cooperative opportunities.

Promotion

Markets downtown’s opportunities to investors, residents, customers and visitors through events, ads, publications and other activities. LDI’s Director with cooperation from town officials and staff spearhead and promote festivals and events that involve the local community and promote downtown as a destination.

Design

Improves the appearance of the downtown’s public and private spaces, including buildings, signs, business displays, parking and sidewalks. LDI Committee volunteers have created a successful window display campaign, implemented annual flower selections, suggested theme and decorations for the annual fundraiser.

Economic Restructuring

Strengthens and diversifies the downtown’s economic base, using market analysis and incentives as the foundation for recruitment and retention.
LDI’s committee is aware of current economic conditions and is working with existing business and potential owners to develop and organize recruitment and media strategies. Downtown Luray is a recently designated Art and Cultural District with plans and strategies to expand the art economy through this committee.
